Pass the Stuffing!
It took an airplane hangar to hold it all!
About 50 HMAr’s and their families spent Thanksgiving afternoon at the hangar of Ron and Mary Edwards *stuffing* themselves with an amazing array of turkey, ham, veggies, and all the trimmings.
Followed by a round of touch ‘n go’s at the dessert tables (yes, tableS)… It was a great opportunity to come together to give thanks (and eat and eat and eat) with our families and friends at the airpark.

2018 New Years Progressive Dinner Plans
The annual kick off to the new year is once again upon us – the 2018 New Years Day Progressive Dinner!
HMAr’s are in for some “closed pattern work” as pilots and passengers will progress around the airpark, albeit in cars and not airplanes. Holley Mountaineers visit three HMA homes and/or hangars for a fun night that will begin at 5:30pm at one home with appetizers; move on at 6:30pm to someone’s hangar for the main course; and then on to another home at 7:30pm for dessert. This year the Haley’s have volunteered to start the night at their BRAND NEW home for appetizers. THANK YOU Neil and Debby! Next, we caravan over to John and Carol Oakland’s hangar for the main event. Save room for dessert at Walt and Linda Petersen’s. For more info and to RSVP, contact Beth Robinson. Aluminum Overcast Tour a Success
Our EAA Chapter, in conjunction with theConway EAA’rs, co-hosted aweekend tour stop of EAA’s Aluminum Overcast at Cantrell Field in Conway on November 10-12.

The B-17 in Conway was a huge success. They flew 14 passenger flights with over 135 people. We sold or gave to veterans and kids hundreds of passes for tours of the aircraft. The airport was mobbed all weekend, especially for the ceremony for veterans on Saturday afternoon.. A special thanks to the Cantrells for their incredible job and hard work organizing the event and to the Conway chamber of commerce for their generous support to the crew and volunteers. It was amazing all weekend and an honor to have been there.

HMA’r Wins at OSH!
Congratulations to Harvey Swift (lot Homestead) and his Pitts S-1C for earning the Paul Poberezny Founder’s Award for Best Classic Homebuilt Award at EAA Airventure 2017.
The plans built bi-plane was a six-year project for Harvey, a retired Southwest airlines pilot and aviator with 40 years behind the stick. If you see Harvey riding around the airpark on one of his classic motorcycles, flag him down! He’ll be happy to show you his award-winning baby!
Entry Paving Completed
In a continuing effort to maintain and improve the roads and taxiways of the airpark, new asphalt was installed from the postal center to the bottom of Flag Hill.
Prior to the overlay, French drains and gravel were installed to help direct ground water under and away from the asphalt surface. In addition, seal coating was applied to the Southridge Road entryway from Holley Mountain Road to the postal center. Bids and plans for additional pavement management are in the works for 2018.
Flag Hill Flags Again at Half Mast
With a heavy heart, the flags on Flag Hill have once again this year been lowered to half-mast in remembrance of the victims of the mass shooting in Texas.
The flags will soon be coming down for the winter season when they will be cleaned, repaired and stored for the winter by volunteers Carol Oakland (lot 5/6 ) and Joan Bland (lot 87 ). You’ll know spring is really here with the flags are hoisted once again in April.
Aluminum Overcast Arrives
In preparation for EAA’s B-17 “Aluminum Overcast” tour, the beast arrived
at Cantrell Field (KCWS) in Conway Sunday afternoon, November 5th.
The Clinton and Conway EAA Chapters are sponsoring the EAA’s B-17 Tour in Conway Nov. 10-12, 2017. Flights available in the mornings, ground tours in the afternoon. Nov 11 is Veterans Day and plans are being made for a Veterans Ceremony. For more information or to purchase a flight, go to B17.org
2017 HMA POA Annual Meeting Announced

I spotted a 300+Lb black bear crossing Holley Mountain Rd this morning about 300 yds south of the Hilyer’s headed east. Might notify the residents to mind their trash and pets for a few days.
