Holley Mountain Airpark, a Brief History

 

March 1991

The Colloms purchased the original 120 acres of what was to become Holley Mountain Airpark on March 5th of 1991 from Bob & Charlotte Tidwell.

1993

Construction began on the original private 2,850ft grass runway. It took months of walking the runway every evening to remove all the rocks.

March 1999

The runway and airpark development started in 1998 with the first property sale March 7th, 1999 and the paving of the runway July 22nd, 1999. The runway was extended to 4795ft at the time it was paved.

 

 

 

 

 

July 2005

Things are progressing nicely. Phase I is sold out and Phase II is selling fast.

 

 

May 2007

Phase II is almost sold out. Phase III is selling fast and Phase IV has recently been released.

The runway has just undergone a facelift with repainting of the markings. It looks brand new, just in time for the summer flying season.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

June 2011

The runway has just undergone a major facelift with a total surfacing reseal & repainting of the markings. It looks like day 1 when it was originally built.




Present Day

Phase V, the final phase, is now complete. Utilities and paving for Phase IV are planned to be completed by years end. New aerial photo to follow soon.
