Hello Friends!
In the last update, we said we hoped
to complete the Taxiway Lights and the
Flag Installations by
May 10th. Well it is all done, ahead of schedule. Plus more base gravel
placed onto Citation Drive, in preparation for paving later in the year.
PLUS....
THE AUTOMATED UNICOM IS RUNNING IN
TEST MODE as of April 13th.
Some of you know this has been a
project I have been toying with for more than a year now. I would have to
write a book on how I designed and built it, but at this point all
everyone needs to know is that we have an automated/ automatic
unicom on 122.7 mhz at Holley Mountain Airpark.
When flying within 10 miles of 2A2,
you simply activate it by clicking your microphone exactly 8 times. It
responds with wind direction and speed, landing runway, conditions of
runway and approach lights High or Low, or On or Off.
I will have the altimeter setting on
it as soon as I locate a sensor that is linear from 0 to 5 vdc to feed to
one of the analog inputs or I am also looking into a possible serial port
connection for that too.
In addition to the flags that are
installed at FLAG HILL. We added to this installation 3000 watts of flood
lights that are activated as the entrance gate is opened. WHAT A CLASS
LOOK TO THE OLD AIRPARK!!
We hope that all will keep our troops
in their thoughts and prayers! They are protecting our FREEDOMS!!
Thanks to all, Holley Mountain Airpark
just keeps on getting better!!

USPA AR01 ANNUAL MEETING
The next Regular
Meeting of the Members of the Holley Mountain Chapter (AR01) of the United
States Pilots Association (USPA) is set for 12noon, Saturday, May 17, 2003 at
Holley Mountain Airpark. This will be the official AR01 Annual Meeting, at
which the election of officers will be held and a bring-a-dish lunch will
be shared.
Everyone with an interest in General Aviation is welcome to
attend. For more specific information on this subject, please visit the
AR01 website.
The next get-together
of the planning team for our Holleyfest 2003
fly-in / camp-out "Centennial Celebration of Flight" aviators block party
will be held this same date, immediately following lunch (aka: starting at
about 1:00pm.) This will be a "get down to brass tacks" meeting at
which a list of volunteers will be assembled and specific tasks will be
assigned. However, if you really want the opportunity to get to know all
of us HolleyMountaineers "up close and personal," there is no better time
than at one of our Holleyfest strategy sessions. Just be prepared to
encounter a well-rounded fun-loving group of aviators and their families
who love nothing better than to "get things done."
September 12 & 13: This of
course is the date for this year's annual Holleyfest, and if you've never
shared space with our aviation family before, you can
make
your reservations now!
