Autumn gold dapples the thick forest green of
North Central Arkansas as this update is written. The first frost of the
season settled on the pumpkins this morning, bedecking meadow grass in
sun-shimmered lacy white. It is an amazing season. Brisk yet warm-blooded,
gliding like a breeze-tagged leaf spattered with auburn sun.
We have enjoyed a banner year here at the
Airpark. Our Neighbors
roster, now forty families strong, continues to blossom with the kinship
of an extended family. With six recent groundbreakings and a seventh imminent,
our very own "construction boom" is well underway, bringing
the number of Neighbors in full time residence to MANY!!!
Our Fire
Department volunteers keep on doing all of us proud as we progress
through our firefighter emergency training. We have entered into an
Automatic Aid agreement with
the Burnt Ridge Volunteer Fire Department which increases the safety of
everyone in our area, and have formed a working
affiliation with the Arkansas
Forestry Commission.
We also continue to upgrade our
firefighting fleet and emergency equipment, such as installing STORZ
"quick connect" couplings, in preparation for our ISO evaluation in April of
2006. More importantly, however, the safety we all now enjoy because of
this training and equipment goes well beyond what any of us ever imagined
possible when we were first going into this project. Thanks for goes
wholeheartedly to all of our local firefighting volunteers.
Our "virtual tour" exhibit at
Oshkosh in July turned heads and gave us a great opportunity to meet
many new friends. Holleyfest, our
7th annual this year held in September, again brought together a cadre of
aviation professionals, amateurs, wannabees and lookieloos for a weekend
agenda of camping, pilot safety education, musical entertainment,
delicious food and great family fun. And now, with only 14
properties remaining in Phases II &
III, and with the installation of an onsite aviation fueling station
slated for 2006.
All of this has kept us rather busy and we
expect the trend to continue. Sincerely, we extend heartfelt thanks to all
our Neighbors here on The Mountain for making Holley Mountain Airpark
an outstanding place to call home. In all ways initially envisioned and
beyond a sum totaling greater than its parts, the aviation enthusiasts of
our Airpark are building an outstanding community.
Their hospitality is
generous, the natural result of coupling hard earned satisfaction with
convivial good will. Each and everyone is an individual of extraordinary
caliber, their homes being enclaves of uniquely personal good taste. With great anticipation, we look
forward to welcoming many more Neighbors and becoming good friends over the coming
years.
Warmly,
