Christine Weiss
briefly recapped the history of Holleyfest from inception, noting
special thanks to John & Carol for hosting the day’s gathering and
extending appreciation for John’s willingness to serve as a
toastmaster at last year’s event and take a leadership role the
planning of this year’s program. |

The group
acknowledged Carol for marvelous “Italian Beef” buffet luncheon
feast and also for volunteering to mend the state flags (at the
Airpark entrance) that have started to tatter at the edges. In
addition, Carol graciously accepted a totally disorganized box full
of computer disks and assorted documents pertaining to the history
of Holleyfest, which she plans to organize into an Archive. |
|
John opened a
general conversation on the need for and importance of having a
descriptive “tag-line” depicting the overall “quality” of Holleyfest
2004. This conversation evolved into a proposal, offered by Joe
Marshall, for a committee to develop a “permanent” tag-line in the
interest of providing ongoing continuity to the event. Everyone saw
this as a good idea. Keith Wingad and Bill Collom, together with
Joe, will take on this challenge with the ideal of having an
agreed-to tag line no later than July 17, 2004.
Christine reported that Cecil Miller of the FAA in Texas had
verbally confirmed (by telephone) that our request for a Temporary
Control Tower and designated fly-in frequency of 118.45mhz,
beginning at 8:00 am, Saturday, October 9 through the conclusion of
the event, had been received, is approved, and that the official
paperwork is in process.
The group then did a step-by-step “mind walk” through the proposed
Holleyfest 2004 itinerary and agenda, confirming the desired
activities and coordinators for each item on program. Resultant of
this, a detailed
Master List
was complied.
The dates and hosts of remaining/scheduled Holleyfest Planners
Meetings for 2004 were confirmed as:
July 17 --
J.F. & Cheryl Williams (also
AR01 Annual Meeting & Election of Officers)
August 21 -- if needed
September 18 --
Joe & Carolyn Marshall
October 5, 6, 7 -- Holleyfest set-up dates
October 8 & 9 -- Holleyfest 2004
October 10 -- Holleyfest “hold over” date
November 20 -- Seasonal wrap-up/kick-off, “holiday party”
with AR01, location to be decided.
Thus with all
known business concluded, the Planners gathering drew to a close at
about 3:00pm.
