Gastons (3M0). Gastons Sunday Brunch Buffet in mid Summer.

The airport is about 43nm to the north of Holley Mountain. It has a 3200ft grass strip and the restaurant is right on the field. Several of us departed from various airports in the area. Two in the Piper Cub and the two of us in the Rotorway from Clinton as well as one aircraft from each of Holley Mountain, Mountain View and Heber Springs.
Royce and Sharon blast off into a clear blue sky in the Cub.
They quickly disappear to the north.
We departed soon after in the Rotorway and soon were abeam of Holley Mountain.
Looking north it was a magnificent morning for flying. Temps were about 80 with light winds and no clouds to speak of. The view from the helicopter is great with the doors off and it was refreshing to have the breezy air coming in the cockpit.
Our first pass over the Buffalo river that was about to be winding below us.
Gotta have a self portrait photo.
Back over the Buffalo again. This area is really in the middle of the Ozark Mountains. Not much but trees and rivers here.
The view to the west with some tiny clouds way in the distance.
The Buffalo is quite low right now. We have not had much rain lately.
There's a nice spot for a picnic although the only way to get to some of these remote locations is with a helicopter. Not sure if I'd like to try landing on a sand bar though.
Everyone relaxing after filling up on the great brunch fare at Gastons.
The Cub ready for departure while the others watch. They're not in a hurry. The 182 and the RV will be back well before we are.
As we lift of from Gastons I snap this pic of some people on the White River. A great day for boating for sure.
Looking back as we make a right turn to the south, Gaston's runway is on the right of the river.
As we cross the next bend in the White River it's amazing how blue the water appears from reflecting the clear blue sky.
Crossing the Buffalo once more.
And finally coming back into Clinton airport. What a great way to spend a morning. As usual I am looking forward to the next trip.
