--- UNAPPROVED/UNOFFICIAL MINUTES ---
HOLLEY MOUNTAIN CHAPTER AR01
UNITED STATES PILOTS ASSOCIATION
Saturday, July 17, 2004
JF & Cheryl Williams Hangar
Holley Mountain Airpark
Clinton, Arkansas |
Jim Collom, president
John Oakland, vice president
Joe Marshall, treasurer
Christine Weiss, secretary |
I. Call to order
The meeting was called to order at approximately 12:30pm by Jim Collom.
Bill Collom signed-up as a new member and roll-call confirmed the presence
of 12 members in good standing and the establishment of a quorum.

II. Reports
The minutes of the May 15, 2004, regular meeting were approved as
previously published with one minor correction denoting the previously
omitted name of the person (Ken Sowers) designated as the AR01
representative to the USPA board for the prior meeting.
Joe Marshall reported that there had been no change to the $158 balance in
the treasury since the last meeting, but that Bill’s new membership would
add a few dollars to the total.
III. Old/New Business
Ongoing items carried forward from prior agendas were discussed,
including "Private Seller" tax regulations (Jerry Conner), the
nonexistence of further developments on cell phone tower encroachment (Jim
Collom, Joe Marshall), and the proposed creation of a “model policy,” re:
“airport zoning” (Jim Collom, Joe Marshall).
It was decided that the phone tower issue could be dropped from the
agenda, but that other items were to be carried forward for continuing
discussion.
Joe Marshall accepted the appointment to serve as the AR01 representative
to attend the August 2004 USPA Board Meeting with the condition that Ken
Sowers have the opportunity to go in Joe’s place if Ken would enjoy the
assignment.
The pros and cons of filing an “Omnibus Proxy” to cover USPA meetings when
an AR01 representative cannot attend was discussed. It was decided that if
such a proxy were to be filed, someone from AR01 would have to research
the upcoming USPA agenda so that an informed decision could be made about
pertinent issues and the proxy vote(s) would be cast in support of AR01
wishes.
An email letter from Jan Hoynacki addressing the plans for AR01 to host a
future meeting of USPA was read and discussed with all in accord that
trying to integrate USPA activities with Holleyfest could be overwhelming
for everyone involved and thus was not desirable.
The single remaining meeting of AR01 during 2004 was confirmed for
November 20 as a combined “Holiday Party” with Holleyfest Planners. Ideas
are being solicited for the group to “do something” different for this
meeting, such as planning a dinner together at a restaurant. All
suggestions should be forwarded to Christine Weiss.
Slate of candidates for officers presented by Greg Smith and Ron Edwards,
Nominating Committee, were:
<> Jim Collom, president
<> John Oakland, vice president
<> Joe Marshall, treasurer
<> Christine Weiss, secretary
The proposed slate of officers, elected for a one year term to expire June
30, 2005, were unanimously elected by acclamation.
The hospitalization and recovery of AR01 past vice president Timothy Posey
was discussed and an announcement made about the “fish fry” benefit and
other fundraising actions to benefit the medical fund established on Tim’s
behalf.
V. Call to Adjourn
With a motion by Joe Marshall with second from Eric Archer and unanimous
vote of support, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 1:30pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Christine Weiss, Secretary AR01
