Fundraiser
held for Posey
The "Good Neighbors of Van Buren County"
pulled together an outstanding "Fish Fry Benefit" held Saturday,
July 17, for Timothy Posey.
Pictured at right: Tim Posey and friends visited in the
shade of the drive-through awning of First Service Bank in Clinton. The
area was set up with tables, chairs, and a cooking and food service area
for the benefit event.
According to organizers, the Saturday get together
consumed roughly 180lbs
of fish, cooked by a team of volunteers and served as well over 500
meals.
Proceeds from the benefit, totaling about
$2300, will help reduce the hospital and medical
bills amassed by Posey as the result of him being
blindsided by a deer while riding his motorcycle over a month ago.
Members of the Good Neighbors group were
elated with the outpouring of cooperation, support and good will that
brought all the resources together which made the fundraiser possible.
"The community stepped up big time," one of the organizers said. "All the
churches really worked together in addition to outstanding participation
from a wide variety of organizations and businesses in Clinton and from
all over Van Buren County, including the folks at Toad Suck, Huddle House,
Flash Market, Western Sizzlin' and Sonic. Also,
the folks at KGFL-KHPQ for their special media support, the Archey Fork
Car Club for putting on such a great show, Roller McNutt Funeral home for
publishing our flyers and providing a vehicle for transportation and
errands, and of course to First Service Bank for hosting the event.
Everyone deserves to pat themselves on the back."
"It is wonderful that the fundraiser has done
good for Tim," said Jim Collom, a longtime friend of Posey. "$2,300 is a
lot of money, and it will help. But added to Tim's medical fund the total
comes only to roughly $5,300, and in the spectrum of this task, that is
still very small."
Collom said Posey's medical bills are
expected to total in the $100,000 range and that of this Posey's insurance
will pay about $5,000. "Add that to the $5,300 raised so far and it only
comes to $10,300. Don't get me wrong. The benefit was GREAT. A real
success!! But still it only places us at 10% to 11% of achieving our
objective. So the war is still ON in aiding Tim!"

Tim Posey, AR01 VP, Seriously Injured in
Motorcycle Accident
by Jim Collom, AR01 President
June 9, 2004, Ozark
Mountains, AR -- I am sorry to report that late in May, Tim Posey
(pictured at right),
long-time airframe parts specialist with Arkansas Airframe of
Clinton,
Arkansas, while on his way home from a Christian motorcycling group
meeting in Conway, Arkansas, late at night on his BIG Honda VTX-1800
motorcycle, had an accident with a couple of deer, only minutes from home.
At the time of this writing he is still in Baptist Medical Center in
Little Rock (LIT), Arkansas.
He has undergone surgery to his left ankle and had over a liter of fluid
drained from his left lung. He stayed a few days on a ventilator to assist
his breathing, but is now back to breathing on his own.
Tim spent over 14 years with us at
Arkansas Airframe Inc. We
saw him start as the young shy boy that was hired to pull parts and, in a
rather short period of years, watched him grow into a man that ran our
complete parts division.
Tim graduated from
Shirley Arkansas High School and continues to reside in his hometown.
He tried college for a while, but soon discovered that aviation was his
ONLY interest. He started flight training while in college and later
earned his private pilot’s license locally, at the
Clinton
Airport, where he continues providing airframe parts specialty
services for
Dawson
Aircraft.
When we sold the parts division of Arkansas Airframe Inc. to Will Dawson,
owner of Dawson Aircraft Inc., in February 2003, Tim was given the option
to stay with us, managing the Holley
Mountain Airpark office. However, Tim knew his calling. His heart was
in airframe parts sales, loving to deal and talk aviation with aviation
people. His choice was clear; he became a full time employee of Dawson.
Tim has not only been a model as to what a dedicated employee should be,
but he is one of the most honest, friendliest & kind persons you will ever
have the opportunity to meet. When we took on new projects, such as
Holleyfest and the USPA AR01
chapter, he would dedicate, on his own time, many hours of extra work just
to make sure it was the best it could be. I remember seeing lights on in
the office late one night and stopping in and finding him printing out
graphics for signs that he thought would help the people that visited
Holleyfest that year.
Tim is now, as a result of the accident, complications and surgery,
dealing with the hallucination monsters of morphine and other pain
medicines. Tim has never been in this condition or for that fact he has
never been hurt in anyway before now.
Hospital care has depleted Tim’s medical insurance, so his friends and
aviation buddies have set up a special assistance account for donations to
help this guy that has so much helped so many for so long with our mutual
love in aviation. Tim is a great guy and deserves our support. Hope you
see fit to join us in assisting. Donations can be
